Welcome to the PandA Lab!

Thank you for visiting the official homepage of the PandA Lab directed by Brett Fajen, Professor of Cognitive Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.

The PandA Lab uses behavioral, psychophysical, and computational approaches to study perception and action. Most of our research is focused on the visual control of locomotion, but we also investigate a variety of other topics in perception and action and address core theoretical issues in vision science and cognitive science.

Please visit the other pages of this website to read descriptions of current PandA Lab research projects and facilities, download scientific publications based on work in the PandA Lab, and meet the people who work in the lab.

The Cognitive Science Department at RPI invites applications from students with an interest in perception and action to join the PhD program in Fall 2016 and work in the PandA Lab under the supervision of Professor Brett Fajen. Incoming students will conduct research on the visual control of locomotion, optic flow, and/or affordance perception using behavioral, psychophysical, and computational approaches. Students will gain experience using virtual reality and motion capture technology, and have an opportunity to develop strong technical and quantitative skills through advanced coursework at one of the top technological universities in the country. Financial support in the form of research assistantships, teaching assistantships, and fellowships is available. For more information, please check out the other pages on this website and contact Professor Brett Fajen at fajenb@rpi.edu.
