From the South:
From Exit 23 of the New York State Thruway (I-87), take I-787 North for 8.6 miles to Exit 9E (Route 7 East- Troy/Bennington).

From the North:
From Exit 7 of the Northway (I-87), take Route 7 East for 4.4 miles toward Troy.

From the East:
From Exit B-1 of the Berkshire Spur of the New York State Thruway, take I-90 West toward Albany and Buffalo. Go 13.5 miles on I-90 West to the junction with Route I-787 North toward Troy. The exit lane for 787 appears even before you cross the Hudson River, and the lane exits immediately on the west side of the river. Go 4.6 miles on I-787 North to Exit 9E (Route 7 East toward Troy/Bennington).
From the West:
From Exit 24 of the New York State Thruway (I-90), take I-90 East for 6 miles to the junction of I-787 North, which you should take for 4.6 miles to Exit 9E (Route 7 East- Troy/ Bennington).

From the Albany/Rensselaer Train Station:
Rental cars are not available at the train station, but cabs are. Tell the cabdriver that you want to go to the Gurley Building in Troy, on the corner of 5th Avenue and Fulton Street, and that you want to go to the Union Street entrance — the side that faces RPI.
From the Albany Airport:
As you exit the airport, follow signs to Route I-87 North. Go 2.4 miles on I-87 North to Exit 7 (Route 7 East). Go 4.4 miles on Route 7 toward Troy.

From the Taconic Parkway:
At the northern end of the Taconic Parkway, take Route I-90 West (the Berkshire spur of the New York Thruway, which is a toll road) toward Albany and Buffalo. Go 7.9 miles on the Berkshire Spur. Take Exit B-1 to stay on I-90 West toward Albany and Buffalo. Go 13.5 miles on I-90 West to the junction with Route I-787 North toward Troy. The exit lane for 787 appears even before you cross the Hudson River, and the lane exits immediately on the west side of the river. Go 4.6 miles on I-787 North to Exit 9E (Route 7 East toward Troy/Bennington).

From Route 7 Eastbound:
To RPI's Campus:

As you cross the Hudson River on Route 7 (where there are 4 eastbound lanes), get into the 2nd lane from the right. Near the end of the bridge, bear right, taking the Downtown Troy exit. Go straight at the end of the ramp to merge onto 6th Avenue. Drive 0.4 miles on 6th Avenue. At the second traffic light, take a left onto People's Avenue. Follow this road bearing right at the fork in the road. Continue past the four way intersection with stop signs towards a set of lights. Take a right at these lights to reach the very center of RPI's campus. Drive underneath RPI's large covered walkway. The first left after this walkway will bring you into the visitor's parking lot. Campus maps are available inside the visitors center. Grab one to help you locate the Carnegie Building on the far side of campus ( Five minute walk ).

To the Gurley Building:

As you cross the Hudson River on Route 7 (where there are 4 eastbound lanes), get into the 2nd lane from the right. Near the end of the bridge, bear right, taking the Downtown Troy exit. Go straight at the end of the ramp to merge onto 6th Avenue. Drive 0.4 miles on 6th Avenue (through 2 traffic lights). Get into the center lane at the 2nd light. Just after the 2nd light, turn right onto Grand Street. Turn left onto 5th Avenue, then left again onto Fulton St. To goto Pass the Gurley Building on the left and turn left into our parking lot.
